Employers often ask for a list of references they can contact to ask about you and your work ethic. A reference list often includes your former employer's name, dates of employment, and job title. It is important as an employer to have the applicant sign a release form to allow the company to do a reference check. Without this form, the employer could face a potential lawsuit.
