D. E. Shaw Research is seeking a Scientific Software Documentation Writer to create, maintain, and improve documentation for internally developed software tools and programs. Responsibilities include gathering necessary technical content from our software team, and writing and organizing documentation to address questions from end users in a clear, concise, and structured manner. This is a unique opportunity to work with our world-class team of computer scientists within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Successful candidates will be creative and independent problem solvers who have excellent communication skills and are extremely detail-oriented. Ideal candidates will have a background or deep interest in software development and scientific research. They should have a demonstrated track record of writing and improving technical documentation, and they should be enthusiastic about explaining scientific software tools to scientists. Some familiarity with Linux/UNIX operating systems and Python or other programming languages is preferred. This is a part-time limited-term position with an anticipated six-month contract.

D. E.
