Lana Del Rey, Lizzo, Bon Iver, Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande And More Are Nominated For Album Of The Year Grammy Award

There are eight nominees for the 2020 Album of the Year Grammy award. The Recording Academy announced the full list of Grammy award nominations on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, and the news is dominating headlines and trending on social media platforms. The Album of the Year Grammy award is shared by the musical artist with the album’s producers, any guest artists who worked on the album, songwriters (providing it was new material and not mixed from a previous song), mixers, and engineers.

The Record of the Year differs from the Album of the Year as the Record Grammy award pertains to one song. The Album of the Year award is the full album. The Best Song award differs from the Record of the Year award as Best Song honors the songwriter and Record of the Year doesn’t.

The eight nominees for the Album of the Year Grammy award are as follows.

  1. Norman F***ing Rockwell by Lana Del Rey

  2. I,I by Bon Iver

  3. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go by Billie Eilish

  4. Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande

  5. I Used To Know Her by H.E.R.

  6. 7 by Lil Nas X

  7. Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) by Lizzo

  8. Father of the Bride by Vampire Weekend

You may see a list of all of the Album of the Year nominees for the 62nd Grammy awards below.

As many of the artists are also songwriters and even producers on the albums, the nominations are a seal of approval on much more than their vocal or musical ability. Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell served in multiple capacities on When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go. Finneas produced, co-wrote songs, engineered and mixed the album. A nomination in this category is much more than a simple stamp on the album by the recording industry saying Billie Eilish made a great album and sounds good.

Lana Del Rey co-produced and co-wrote songs on Norman F***king Rockwell as did Bon Iver member and lead singer Justin Vernon, Lil Nas X wrote his album 7, Lizzo, who wrote her songs with Eric Frederic, Ariana Grande who co-wrote songs on her album, H.E.R. who co-produced and co-wrote I Used To Know Her, and Vampire Weekend lead singer Ezra Koenig who wrote and co-produced Father of the Bride.
